Yes. Under RCW 6.15.020, retirement accounts — 401(k)s, 403(b)s, pensions, and IRAs — are fully exempt in a Washington bankruptcy. There is no dollar cap on qualified employer plans.
The federal exemption scheme protects tax-exempt retirement funds too (with an IRA/Roth aggregate cap of $1,711,975 under § 522(n)), so retirement savings are safe under either election.
The one thing to avoid: pulling money OUT of a retirement account to pay debts before filing. That converts fully protected funds into cash that may not be exempt — and the debts might have been discharged anyway. Talk to an attorney before touching retirement money.

Exemption figures were verified against official sources in August 2026; inflation-adjusted amounts (including Arizona's Prop 209 figures and county median homestead values) are computed estimates that change annually and should be confirmed by an attorney for your petition date.
